State of the Map 2013

the OpenStreetMap event: 6-8 September 2013

A busy June

Posted by  robjn  Jun 30, 2013

Its been an incredibly busy June. Our Call For Presentations closed on 10th June, and as always you kept us guessing right up to the last minute – 65 percent of the proposals came in during the last few days!

Spurred on by a hugely successful State of the Map US, the SOTM organising team got right on to reviewing your proposals. We were absolutely delighted by the quality and breadth of presentations this year and enjoyed reading all about them. Thank you also to those of you who added notes of support and gratitude in the comments textbox – these put a smile on our faces and personally kept me going during what was a busy week (both in OSM and the day job).

The conference schedule taking shape

It was a real challenge to rule anything out. So much so that we went back to Aston University (our conference venue in the centre of Birmingham) to find more space. We were able to secure an additional room, and therefore I am delighted to confirm that all presentation proposals have been accepted.

Everyone who submitted a presentation should now have received an email asking them to confirm their attendance by 8th July so that we can share our programme as soon as possible. As the OpenStreetMap Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation, we are unfortunately unable* to provide free tickets to our presenters. Tickets can be purchased via our online ticketing system.

We look forward to meeting you and listening to the presentations!

* If you, or a business you know, would like to help fund State of the Map and enable us to provide financial support to our presenters, please let us know by completing our online sponsors form.
